For the first time, a Portuguese telenovela receives an the International Emmy Award: the winner is “Meu Amor”.
The 38th International Emmy Awards took place at New York and awarded the best television programs produced and shown outside the United States of America. “Ciegas a citas” from Argentina and “Dahil May Isang Ikaw”, from Filipines were in competition with the Portuguese production.
Created by António Barreira and directed by Hugo de Sousa, “Meu Amor” had been on the air on TVI between october 2009 and october 2010 and featured Margarida Marinho, Alexandra Lencastre, Paulo Pires, Rita Pereira, Marco D’Almeida and Rodrigo Menezes in the leading roles.
